SEXUAL HEALTH

Being that sex is often looked at through a diagnostic lens, it is hard to find support and affirming care that does not feel ostracizing. I see each client as a whole, healthy, multi-faceted person who exists within many interconnected systems. Becoming aware of somatic sensations, recognizing emotions, and uncovering authentic desires can help us move through these systems in an empowered way. I am experienced in the areas of sexual development and dysfunction, kink, non-traditional relationship structures, queer and gender identity; see a full list of concerns I address in sex therapy below:

Sexual Development

  • Sexual Confidence

  • Kink/Kink Integration

  • Living with an STD

  • Sexual Health After Trauma

Sexual Dysfunction

  • Problematic Sexual Behaviors

  • Desire/Libido

  • Anorgasmia

  • Vaginismus

Gender and Sexuality Exploration

  • Sexual Discovery and Acceptance

  • Coming Out

  • Transitioning and Psychoeducation

  • Gender-Confirming Referral Letter

Approaches

hi

Attachment Theory

From the earliest moment in our lives, we are learning about the world and our place within it through our attachment to others. These early attachments influence our emotional and social development throughout our lives. Understanding one's attachment style can provide insights into relational patterns and guide therapeutic interventions to enhance emotional well-being and interpersonal interactions. Ultimately, having insight into your attachment gives insight into how to heal.

DBT(Dialectical Behavioral Therapy)

DBT is my preferred evidence-based therapeutic approach, combining cognitive-behavioral techniques with mindfulness and acceptance strategies. It aims to help individuals develop skills for managing intense emotions, reducing self-destructive behaviors, and improving relationships. DBT emphasizes finding a balance between acceptance of oneself and the need for change, teaching practical coping mechanisms to foster emotional regulation and enhance overall well-being.

Adlerian Therapy/Individual Psychology

Adlerian therapy/Individual Psychology emphasizes the importance of an individual's subjective experiences and their unique perspective on life. In a session, we can seek to identify and challenge unhelpful beliefs and behaviors, while fostering feelings of empowerment and encouraging the creation of meaningful connections with others. We can work collaboratively to enhance your sense of belonging, self-esteem, and find your definition of a fulfilling life.

CFT (Compassion Focused Therapy)

CFT is a therapeutic approach that emphasizes the cultivation of self-compassion and empathy towards oneself and others. It draws on evolutionary psychology, neuroscience, and mindfulness to foster a compassionate mindset. CFT aims to alleviate emotional distress, self-criticism, and shame by helping individuals develop a kinder, more nurturing relationship with themselves, ultimately promoting mental well-being and improving relationships with others.

Person-Centered Therapy

Person-Centered Therapy is grounded in the belief that individuals have an innate capacity for self-awareness, growth, and positive change. It asserts that individuals possess the inherent ability to navigate their lives effectively when provided with a supportive and non-judgmental therapeutic environment. I hold a deep respect for each person's unique subjective experience and their ability to find their own path towards healing and self-actualization.
