My name is Lila, I am a Licensed Mental Health Counseling Associate in Washington State and founder of Intimate Insights Counseling. I received my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Eastern Washington University after pivoting from a career in Applied Behavioral Analysis, and research. I provide online counseling to residents in Washington State and Idaho, as well as in-person counseling in Spokane. I specialize in relationship and sexual health, self-identity, and development.
I am an attachment-based counselor with a specific interest in cultivating an understanding of how social systems, past experiences, and current life demands impact your day-to-day now. This is essential in maintaining progress outside of our time together, as counseling is not only a financial investment, but an investment in yourself, your future, quality of life, and relationships. I will use a combination of interventions from Attachment Theory, DBT, Individual Psychology, Compassion-Focused therapy, IMAGO, and Person-Centered therapy to create an individualized treatment plan. My focus on relationships stems from a background in research, studying the impacts of sexual health on relationship satisfaction and overall quality of life. This was later reinforced by my work in Applied Behavioral Analysis as a Behavior Therapist for Neurodivergent populations. Here, I learned the true importance of strong and positive connections, paving the way for effective communication, trust, and the development of vital skills. However, I noticed a gap in understanding and applying knowledge around how people connect, as well as individual patterns that create barriers to meaningful connection. Humans learn through attachment, develop through coregulation, and heal from connection, it makes sense the state and quality of our relationships are indicative of our overall health. I find it important to integrate this evidence-based perspective and background with a holistic approach to consider the interconnectedness of physical, emotional, relational, and sexual well-being, leading to more comprehensive and sustainable healing.
I understand that starting the process can be daunting and at times overwhelming, so meeting you where you are at in your mental health journey is my priority. You are the expert on you and your life, and I deeply believe that each of us has what it takes to live a valued life, my role as a counselor is to help you discover or unlock that innate ability. Whether you would like to see me for individual or couples counseling, I will work alongside you, as a fellow imperfect human who feels fortunate to be a guest in your world.

ThE therapeutic relationship
The therapeutic relationship is unique, vulnerable, and essential to a successful experience. I believe this should ideally look like a collaborative and egalitarian dynamic, aiming to understand the individual within the context of their social environment and relationships. We will work as partners to explore your unique subjective experiences, beliefs, and lifestyle preferences. I will offer encouragement, compassion, and insight to help you reframe your perceptions and develop a more constructive worldview, focusing on what you might need to cultivate positive change. Mutual respect and trust are fostered, creating a safe space for self-exploration and growth.
